Hello June… and Happy World Milk Day! Today we’re celebrating the rich, creamy milk of our own Jersey herd. Known for its exceptional quality and flavour, Jersey is the milk at the heart of our 100% cows’ milk Brie, Elmhirst, Camembert and the Rustics… and our mixed milk Rushmore and Savour. 🐄 Naturally richer: Jersey milk contains higher levels of butterfat, typically 4.8% to 5.5%, compared to the average 3.5% found in many other milks. It’s always a pleasure to step out of our corner of Devon and catch up with fellow cheesemakers from across the country. Last week, Greg and Nicky made the trip to Melton Mowbray for the Artisan Cheese Awards 2026, where ELMHIRST was in the running for a top award. We’re delighted to share that our decadent triple cream cheese was named one of the final three in the Soft Cheese category. While we didn’t take home the top prize this time, we’re incredibly proud to be recognised among the top three soft cheeses in the UK. The Artisan Cheese Awards champion artisan cheesemakers across the UK and Ireland, and this year attracted a record-breaking 644 entries from more than 100 cheesemakers. 🚙 And yes… Devon to Melton Mowbray is a very long drive! 👉🏼 Elmhirst Tasting Notes: Named after the owners of the Dartington Estate with family ties to the original Sharpham cheesemaker, Maurice Ash, Elmhirst is pure dairy opulence. Similar to a Vignotte, double cream is added to our Jersey milk, resulting in mould-ripened triple cream cheese that is rich and mousse-like when young (2-3 weeks old) and develops into a full-bodied, decadent, and gooey experience when mature (4-6 weeks). #softcheese #devoncheese #artisancheeseawards -

🐐 When we say goat’s cheese on salad it’s got to be Ticklemore. Mildly lemony, a little bit earthy, fresh and zingy… we were bowled over by just how good Ticklemore pairs with smoked salmon and avocado! We added melon, tomato and cucumber, a sprinkling of toasted seeds, a twist of black pepper, a tiny drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lime juice. The result was a bowl that was fresh, bright and seriously full of flavour. No recipe… just a fridge raid salad bowl with added Ticklemore. It’s the ideal cheese to add to any sunny lunch outdoors! 🍃 A pesto, but not as you know it… Sharpham Rushmore Pesto is rich, nutty, and deeply savoury. Made with our mixed milk Jersey cow and goat’s milk cheese for a subtle tang and umami depth. Blitzed with fresh basil, garlic, nuts, olive oil, and lemon, it’s a beautiful, vibrant green and packed with flavour, perfect for pasta or dolloped on simple sunny dishes like griddled courgette and asparagus. ➡️ Ingredients: • 50g basil (It’s Wild Garlic season right now so you could go foraging and swap) • 40g Sharpham Rushmore, grated • 30g pine nuts or walnuts • 1 garlic clove • ½ lemon, juiced • 75ml extra virgin olive oil • Salt & pepper ➡️ Method: Toast nuts, then blitz with basil, garlic, and cheese. Add lemon juice and slowly stream in olive oil until thick and spoonable, but not too smooth. HOSPISCARE AWARDS It doesn’t seem like a year since we gathered to celebrate with our fellow Hospiscare 40 Club members. But it was! So today we got to do it all again at The Hall in Exeter, with a cream tea, great company and the big reveal of this year’s fundraising total by the 40 Club. The incredible Hospiscare team - Sarah, Ellie, Georgia, Alice - presented nine well-deserved awards and brought us up-to-speed with Hospiscare news and reminded us why love to support this amazing local charity. We were proud to receive the Spirit of 40 Club Award, but even more delighted to share that we’ll be staying in the club for another year. The total for the past year was an astonishing £100,289.34, which brings the overall amount raised by the Club since the beginning to £453,289.34. We’re so pleased we were able to play our small part in this total. -
