Celebration Cakes FAQs

We know planning a wedding or a big celebration can be incredibly stressful. Here at Sharpham Cheese, we have come up with all the frequently asked questions about Sharpham Cheese celebration wedding cakes, so you don’t have to worry. If your question is not answered below, please email weddingcakes@sharphamcheese.co.uk and we will be happy to answer anything.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER MY CAKE?

For Bespoke cakes, as we make and mature to order please make sure you give us a minimum of 8 weeks. For the premade cheesecakes, we ask for 2 weeks to ensure we have each cheese layer in stock and at the right stage of maturity.

WHEN DO YOU DELIVER?

For the rest of the UK, we dispatch via DX Monday to Thursday. We do have a Saturday delivery for an additional charge. We recommend getting your cheesecake delivered a couple of days in advance to ensure you have your cheese ready for your special day. We make hand deliveries a couple of days in advance for orders in Devon. 

WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE CHEESE ONCE WE HAVE RECEIVED IT?

Please store in the refrigerator, below 8°C

WHO DECORATES THE CAKE?

We want the cake to represent you, so we are leaving this up to your trusted caterers or wedding prep team. However, we have written a blog with different ideas on how to style your cheese wedding cake to help you.

HOW LONG CAN THE CHEESES BE OUT AT ROOM TEMPERATURE?

This will really depend on the time of year and the location of your cheesecake. It is suggested that the cheeses are only left out at room temperature for a maximum of four hours. Temperatures from 13°C  to 30°C  we would advise just an hour for the soft cheeses.  Do make sure, however, that they are at room temperature when eaten.

DO YOU SUPPLY THE CHEESE BOARDS?

No, we want you to be able to decide on the look and feel of your cake. We would advise making sure it’s large enough for the base tier, with some room around to fit any flowers, fruit etc. that you may want on the base. We do have a lovely selection of serving boards that you can buy here. All handmade by our Head cheesemaker Peter. 

I HAVEN’T TASTED THE FULL SHARPHAM RANGE- HOW CAN I TASTE THEM?

For bespoke wedding cakes, we offer a tasting box service for £30. For this, you can taste the whole selection of Sharpham cheeses. There is enough in the box to taste for 6 people, so great to be able to get your friends or family together to help make your choices. We can add crackers and chutneys at an additional cost to this order if you are interested in these. Please email weddingcakes@sharphamcheese.co.uk  with your details and we will send you an invoice and arrange a time that works for you to taste. 

WHAT SHOULD I SERVE WITH THE CHEESE?

We have created several pairing blogs that can help you with ideas for this. Did you know we make chutneys and crackers that pair perfectly with Sharpham Cheese? We can guide you through which will work best with the cheeses you choose.

WHEN DO I PAY?

 For the bespoke cheesecakes, we ask for a £50 deposit to be made at the time of placing the order and then the rest of the balance to be paid 2 weeks before dispatch. You can pay earlier if you want.
