Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham wine is widely recognised as producing some of England’s most outstanding wines, since 1981. Now based just 9 miles away from Sharpham Dairy just over the other side of the Dart river at Stoke Gabriel. The 32-acre vineyard is nestled in the valley of the South Hams in Devon. Their wines offer intense fruit flavours and aromas, which are made from carefully selected grape varieties grown on sheltered slopes overlooking the River Dart. Traditional and new-world techniques are employed resulting in a range of distinctive and carefully balanced wines. The range varies from refreshing whites, rosé, reds, and sparkling. Lucky for us there is a wine that goes with each of our artisan cheeses.

CHEESE PAIRING

The pairing of the first-ever wine produced at Sharpham ironically pairs perfectly with the first-ever cheese produced. The crisp and clean acidity of the Madeleine Angevine grape in the Estate Selection perfectly cuts through the rich buttery flavour of the Jersey-milk Sharpham Brie. The wine also has floral and meadow-like characters with help to elevate the grassy undertones in the Brie from the grass-fed Jersey cows. Other great cheese pairings are the Rustic and the Camembert.
