Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham wine is widely recognised as producing some of England’s most outstanding wines, since 1981. Now based just 9 miles away from Sharpham Dairy just over the other side of the Dart river at Stoke Gabriel. The 32-acre vineyard is nestled in the valley of the South Hams in Devon. Their wines offer intense fruit flavours and aromas, which are made from carefully selected grape varieties grown on sheltered slopes overlooking the River Dart. Traditional and new-world techniques are employed resulting in a range of distinctive and carefully balanced wines. The range varies from refreshing whites, rosé, reds, and sparkling. Lucky for us there is a wine that goes with each of our artisan cheeses.

Sharpham Pinot Noir Rosé

This English rosé wine is a dry and fruity rosé with a focus on red fruits such as sour raspberry, wild strawberry, and cherry characteristics on the nose. It’s a versatile wine for the summer, pairing exceptionally well with goat’s cheese.

CHEESE PAIRING:

Pinot Rosé & Ticklemore.

The Ticklemore is a mild and delicate goat’s cheese with a crumbly and slightly chalky texture. When paired with the Sharpham Pinot Rosé, the wine lifts the delicate creamy character of the cheese and also concentrates the red berry flavours in the wine. The perfect pairing for a summer’s evening. Other cheeses that also pair well, so worth having on your summer cheeseboard while enjoying a glass or two of the Sharpham Pinot Rosé would be Sharpham Brie, Sharpham Camembert, and the Sharpham Cremet. The cremet being a soft goat but with cow’s double cream is incredibly rich and decadent, the crips acidity of the rosé helps cut through this richness and brings out the fruity notes within the Pinot Noir Rosé.
